Earlier this year ActionOverseas supporters raised a fantastic total of £17,379 for earthquake victims in Haiti. ActionOverseas linked with partners, Kids Alive, to find a location to most effectively target this offering. Kids Alive Director, David Spurdle, visited Haiti in March and the 'Ganthier Building Project' was later agreed upon.
Here David Spurdle provides an exciting update on the building work, "Ganthier was a place of despair and hopelessness, that is, until ActionOverseas became involved through Kids Alive UK. Where there was hopelessness and despair, there is now hope and excitement. That is because the once derelict building has almost been rebuilt, a new roof is on, a generator is pumping much needed water to the community, the teachers are receiving a small wage, and within the next few days the building will be echoing with the sound of the children receiving an education throughout the week, and the praises of God's people as they gather to worship on Sundays."
Ramon Prenza, Kids Alive's Dominican Republic Director, who has recently returned from Ganthier reports, "The folk in Ganthier are doing a wonderful job, they really appreciate the generous care of ActionOverseas. I could see the love of Jesus being shared in a very practical way. Faith, work and love all in action together."
We have just released the last £6,500 for the purchase of furniture, resources, food and medicines. The folk in Ganthier will be overjoyed and the church increased thanks to you.
