Trained leaders being ordained in Malawi

Elder’s training continues to be an important part of training programme in Malawi. The photo shows our Zomba church where a young man called Wilisoni Timbo is being ordained. He recently completed his training at the centre in Blantyre.

The training consist of two main subjects and the candidates have to be successful in both subjects as well as be baptised in the Holy Spirit. The old fashioned “tarry meeting” at the end of the training is always a highlight in the programme.  Finally, the candidates are interviewed to be sure they are of good character and suited for the position of church elder.

These ordination ceremonies are always an encouragement, with the candidates giving lovely testimonies about God being at work in their lives and the response from the congregations is always very positive.
