Multiplication in action

Jeff Burns leads the national youth team in Scotland. About a year ago, he felt God leading us to inspire the young people to get involved in FUNdraising for Malawi. Based on the principle of sowing and reaping, at our youth weekend we invited those young people who wanted to, to receive £10 from the Scottish Youth funds. 43 young people did so. We then encouraged them to invest the £10 and multiply it and then send it back to us so that we in turn could send it to help the poor in Malawi. 

Although 43 young people took up the £10 Big Challenge (as we called it) only 20 young people actually did anything (parable of the talents here!). However, the young people that did get involved raised a whopping £3,967.20. One young person organised an art auction and that alone raised £2,668.10. It just shows that mighty oaks from little acorns grow- and it gave the young people a real sense of ownership in overseas mission.
