Touching Lives in the south of Malawi
Alan Skene reports on his recent visit to the far South of Malawi:
"The area consists of 4 districts and is well known as the hottest and one of the poorest areas in the country. A new church centre has recently been completed in one of the districts and it was a blessing to have our service there for the first time. The members had been waiting for 3 hours before we actually arrived but were upbeat and gave us a great welcome. During that service Pastor Makwela ordained 3 new church elders, all young men and one other was ordained later in another of the church.
"In every service there was a good response to God’s Word and many were ministered to. Alan was encouraged that people explained they had come for prayer because of the message and that their lives were ‘not like that’. It was moving to see some with tears as their hearts were open to receive from God. On the final day it was a blessing to hold the service under a tree instead of the small mud church. The location was where a new branch had been established just recently and once again the Holy Spirit touched the lives of those present.
"The area has experienced a severe drought throughout the growing season and a number stood up throughout the weekend pleading that they be helped with their hunger as most of the crops had completely failed. Please pray that along with the spiritual food the members will also somehow be helped with maize.”
