Changing Lives: an update from Malawi

Alan and Sandra Skene write from Malawi:

‘We have returned to Malawi just as the hot season is reaching its height – temperatures in the high 30’s are our normal for the next few months! Alan and I have settled quickly back into life here in Malawi, furlough already seems so far away!

But, we must begin this little report with huge thanks to everyone who made us so welcome while we were in the UK. It is always a joy for us to meet face to face with those who pray for us so faithfully – thank you all! We have already had two major events since returning to Malawi in early October.

The first was our annual convention which this year was held in the middle of the tea estates in Thyolo. The theme for the convention was “Walking with God in the last days”. We were delighted with the turn out for the convention – and pleased that the rains did not start as the services were held outdoors! It was good for us to get the chance to listen to some of the Malawian pastors preaching and the Holy Spirit blessed mightily over the whole weekend. In fact right from the start there was a sense of God’s presence – no need for a warm up! Many people responded for prayer, even before the preaching in one service. Some with tear stained cheeks truly repented for the first time in their lives and others were challenged to recommit their lives. A number of distraught parents brought their children for prayer as they had been involved in witchcraft practises in their village

Most of our churches will come together to celebrate the birth of Christ in prayer and praise and having food together. We pray that the wonder of the Incarnation will thrill us all.
