Open hearts and learning off-by-heart in Malawi

Training has always been a high priority for Alan and Sandra Skene. In this article Sandra writes about a ladies training event: ‘The women were delighted to be brought for training and pleased to know they were being taught from the same materials as the men had been taught from!

Some could not read but this did not detract from their thirst to learn, nor did it stop them from memorising all the Beatitudes! Many of these women have only a basic education and it was a great joy to me to see them leafing through their Bibles to follow the scriptures as they were read and to be taking notes as the teaching went on.

This group of women were very focussed on learning more about how they should live the Christian life and we ended on the last day with a beautiful time of worship and a very real sense of the presence of God with us.
